Junior Golf

Spring Ford Country Club boasts one of the premiere junior golf programs in the tri-county area. With nearly 40 current junior members, there is always someone to practice and play with. Whether you are new to golf, or an avid player, there are clinics and tournaments throughout the summer for the juniors to participate in.

Over the years, Spring Ford Country Club's junior program has produced a long list of great players and introduced countless others to this great game. This is due to both the challenges of our golf course and the depth of our junior instructional programs. Even our current golf professional, Rich Steinmetz, is a product of Spring Ford's junior program.

Our juniors have the ability to participate in the Philadelphia PGA Junior Team Matches and also play in many other area events. Unlike many area clubs, Spring Ford allows it's course-ready junior members nearly full access to the golf course and practice facilities.

Three of our junior members played for Spring-Ford High School Girls Golf team this past season: Alyssa Cominsky, Maddy Gilmartin and Gina Vandenburg. They had a very successful season, with a record of 9 - 9. Two of their matches were played at SFCC, where the girls received several clinics from the Pro Rich Steinmetz and Pro Tony DeGisi. Alyssa and Gina scored 46 for their career low score in a 9 hole match at Linfield National. Maddy had her career low score of 37 at Lookaway CC. All three girls played in the district qualifier/PAC-10 Championship at Gilbertsville Golf Club. Gina and Maddy qualified for the district tournament and Maddy won the PAC-10 Championship with a 77. Maddy qualified for the 2nd day of the district tournament with an 85 and finished her season on the second day with a 95 at Turtle Creek Golf Club. Maddy also had a hole-in-one in a Philadelphia Junior tournament this summer at Phoenixville CC.

Several of our junior boy members participated in the Junior GAP tournaments throughout the summer. Notably, 13 year old John Foley, shot 4-under-par for a score of 32 in the 2010 Junior-Junior Boys’ Championship Qualifier, earning medalist honors in a field of 39 players.

Madison Gilmartin was just recently selected as one of the Philadelphia Section PGA’s first representatives to the Ryder Cup Junior Golf Academy (RCJGA). We are looking forward to hearing about her experiences at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie, FL. this summer, and are equally excited that one of our own junior golfers will be participating in this prestigious experience. Congratulation Maddy!
